Acorn Pop Rivets

With only one wall in the shell of the Boler the backs of pop rivets would be exposed. To get around this the manufacturer put an acorn nut on the back, I had to replace a few and used this method.
I used 3/16" diameter pop rivets and 10-32 acorn nuts.

The rivet must be about an 1/8" longer than what would normally be used, the end of the pin and the 1/8" extra length of the rivet must be threaded.

I find that a length just long enough for a snug fit when the acorn nut is put on is about right.

To thread the rivet I put the pin in a vise and then gripped the rivet with narrow vise grips to stop it from turning.
